Mark Chick is the firm’s Senior Partner and Head of the Landlord & Tenant team.
Mark is recognised as a leading UK authority in this sector. He is a Leasehold Reform specialist and has been a Partner at Bishop & Sewell LLP since 2006.
He is a director and a founder committee member of the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP) the sector body to which all reputable valuers and solicitors working in the field of Leasehold Reform now belong.
Over the past ten years he has developed Bishop & Sewell’s Landlord & Tenant practice to be one of the largest specialist teams in the UK. Under his direction the department has flourished and he now leads a team of specialist solicitors and property experts.
Mark writes and speaks on Leasehold Enfranchisement and Landlord & Tenant matters and regularly appears in podcasts and national broadcast media as a commentator. Mark has also appeared before parliamentary Select Committee and is in regular dialogue with MHCLG on the proposed reforms.
Mark was recently presented with an Outstanding Contribution Award in the News on the Block Apartment Adviser Awards 2026, recognising his ongoing work in this area.
He regularly writes and speaks about enfranchisement and leasehold matters and is the author of two leading websites Leasehold Info and Leasehold Reform News.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, I worked briefly in education. Writing and lecturing are still two of my key interests. As well as providing CPD lectures to solicitors and other property professionals, I have appeared on BBC Breakfast and appear frequently in print in relation to Landlord & Tenant matters.
