Bishop & Sewell Charitable Foundation - Bishop & Sewell - Law Firm
Bishop & Sewell

The Bishop and Sewell Charitable Foundation was established by the firm at the instigation of our founding partner Stephen Bishop, with the intention of ‘giving something back’.

The aims of the charity were set for the benefit of those living, working, or studying within the city of London and its 32 London boroughs, ideally within the M25. Its charitable purposes are very wide, and it simply aims to benefit people within Greater London. Therefore, the Trustees of the Charity have a wide discretion to use the funds for any charitable purpose, provided the funds are used within Greater London.

In England and Wales “charitable purposes” include alleviating poverty, furthering education, protecting the environment, advancing amateur sport, promoting animal welfare, advancing health/saving lives and advancing religion (amongst other causes).

The Bishop & Sewell Charitable Foundation currently supports the following London based charities,  and donations are welcome through its Just Giving page.

  • St Mungo’s (https://www.mungos.org/), a charity which supports people sleeping rough, helping them off the streets by providing them with emergency housing and opportunities to learn new skills. The charity also works to prevent homelessness and helps thousands of people to rebuild their lives.
  • Camden Foodbank (https://camden.foodbank.org.uk/), a charity where volunteers redistribute donated food to people in need in the London borough of Camden. Emergency food packages are provided to people in exchange for vouchers or letters from various agencies who are supporting them, such as job centres or social services.
  • Mary Ward Legal Centre (https://www.marywardlegal.org.uk/), a charity which provides free, independent legal advice to people who live and work in London to help them access their legal rights and entitlements.
