The firm recently announced its sponsorship of a dynamic and diverse women’s football team – the Sporting Duet 1st XI – currently competing in Division 1 (South) of the Greater London Women’s Football League.

The team, known for its competitive spirit and recent strong performances, is based at Kings House sports ground in Chiswick, with training sessions held on Thursday evenings at Club des Sports Acton. The sponsorship agreement will provide funding for training kits and equipment for the team this season.

The squad – which has its roots in London’s French community – comprises approximately 25 talented women of various ages and backgrounds, including students, professionals in law, policing, fashion, engineering, technology, and even a couple of dedicated U-18-year-olds.

Currently occupying 5th place in the league, the team aims to build on its recent successes and continue its upward trajectory until the end of the season.

The sponsorship is not just a financial commitment; it signifies a dedication to promoting gender equality in sports. The firm also sponsors girls’ rugby teams. The recent surge in interest in women’s football following England’s success at major international tournaments has been encouraging, but the team recognises that there is still progress to be made.

Céline Moxon, a Trainee Solicitor with Bishop & Sewell and Sporting Duet player, said: “Growing up, I played football with the boys because there wasn’t a girls’ team. Many of us have similar stories, and while we’ve seen positive changes, there’s still work to be done. Bishop & Sewell’s sponsorship not only supports our team but sends a powerful message to girls in Sporting Duet and the wider community – that their dedication to sports is taken seriously and respected.”

Mark Chick, the firm’s Senior Partner, said: “We are excited to be part of the Sporting Duet Women’s first eleven’s journey and look forward to witnessing and celebrating the team’s continued growth and success.”
