London law firm Bishop & Sewell LLP has provided legal counsel to US-based investment company DCB Sports LLC during its acquisition of competitive gaming organisation Guild Esports PLC.

The deal marks a significant achievement for the firm’s fast developing sports law team, led by David Little and Andrew Kavanagh, Corporate Commercial Partners. The Bishop & Sewell sports practice specialises in club sales and acquisitions, contracts, corporate structures, and private wealth legal advice.

David Little said: “We were delighted to have been offered the opportunity to advise DCB Sports on this acquisition and we look forward to working with them again in the future as we continue to grow our sports law department. The acquisition will help secure the long-term future of the Guild brand and will enable Guild’s management team to deliver on its strategic aim to build a competitive gaming brand.”

Launched in June 2020, Guild Esports is a global esports business headquartered in London and co-owned by former England international footballer David Beckham. The company fields professional players for video gaming competitions, including Fortnite, Apex Legends and EAFC25, and was the first publicly traded esports organisation on the London Stock Exchange.

Bishop & Sewell advised California-based DCB Sports in its first investment in the esports arena. The acquisition sees DCB Sports acquire 100% of Guild Esports assets for £100,000 in cash, as well as assuming all liabilities of the company.

As a result, a new entity, Guild Esports & Gaming Ltd has been created. The deal will see DCB Sports provide ongoing capital to allow the Guild brand to operate on a stable financial platform and further develop its existing partnerships both domestically and internationally.
