Stephen Hewitt is a Consultant Solicitor in the Private Client team
Stephen Hewitt joined Bishop & Sewell following the merger with Fisher Meredith in 2017. He joined Fisher Meredith in 1986 and was Managing Partner there for almost twenty years where, besides a range of client work, he was responsible for strategic, financial and operational management, and compliance and regulation.
He is a highly experienced solicitor, having worked for over 35 years across and within a range of legal disciplines involving civil and criminal litigation and Private client. Stephen has been recognized for over twenty years as a leading practitioner in Chambers legal directory and the Legal 500. Stephen has an MBA in Law Firm Management.
He has been co-opted onto various Law Society committees and lawyer representative bodies over the years and other roles have included:
- Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies
- Contributing author for Sweet & Maxwell
- Managing Partner of the Year 2010 – 360 Legal Group
More recently Stephen has specialized in a broad range of Private client work, including estate planning, Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, trusts, probate and the administration of estates as well as elderly client and Court of Protection issues.

My interests: I enjoy active outdoor pursuits such as running, cycling, hill and mountain trekking, as well as travel and spending time watching plays, films and live dance.
