Michael Gillman is a Consultant Solicitor in the Family team.
Michael is the former Senior Partner and Head of the Family team who retired from day-to-day practice in October 2019 after over 40 years as a Solicitor and 25 years at the firm.
He remains at Bishop & Sewell bringing a wealth of experience to the firm as a Consultant notably in the areas of Family Law, Dispute Resolution and also in the general management of the firm.
He assists the firm, its clients, management and will also be available for ad hoc meetings with clients to support the Family and Dispute Resolution teams and former clients.
In 2025, Michael retired as a Deputy District Judge on the Midland Court Circuit as a specialist Children and Financial Remedies Unit judge in Birmingham and elsewhere after 34 years’ service.
Michael is a former Trustee and Chair of The Solicitor’s Charity and a former President of the City of Westminster & Holborn Law Society.
Away from the firm, he remains a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Geographical Society.
Away from the world of law, my interests include gardening, fine arts, opera, walking, tennis, skiing and travel.
