The deferment rate is part of the calculation that is used to work out how much a lease extension or share of freehold will cost. Whilst it is a technical subject if you would like to know more about how the premium that you will pay (or receive, if you are a landlord) is calculated then it may be helpful to have a basic understanding of this concept.
