Stephen joined Bishop and Sewell in August 2017 as a Consultant Solicitor in the Trusts, Tax & Estates team.

Previously he was Managing Partner at Fisher Meredith for almost 20 years, where, besides client work, he was responsible for strategic, financial and operational management as well as compliance and regulatory issues. He has an MBA in Law Firm Management from Nottingham Trent University.

Stephen is a highly experienced solicitor with wide ranging knowledge and expertise. For over 35 years, he has worked within and across a wide range of legal disciplines including Private Client, civil and family litigation and criminal law.

He has been co-opted onto various Law Society committees and held senior positions in solicitor representative bodies for some years liaising with government ministers and senior civil servants particularly relating to access to justice issues.

He was recognised for over twenty years in Chambers Law Firm Directory and Legal 500 as a leading practitioner and was a pre-eminent criminal lawyer in London for many years working on high profile and complex cases. In addition, Stephen has represented witnesses giving evidence in National Inquiries, provided specialist legal advice for overseas governments and national organisations.

More recently, Stephen is greatly enjoying working with his clients advising them on estate planning, Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, trusts, probate and administration of estates, elderly client and Court of Protection issues.

Outside of work, Stephen enjoys spending time with his wife and their grown up daughter, two teenage sons and the family dog. He has travelled extensively and enjoys sporting challenges including half marathons, hill and mountain walking and participating in cycling sportives as well as coaching youngsters soccer and tennis. He is keen on the arts particularly theatre, cinema and dance.
