Andrew Humphrey

Andrew is a senior solicitor and heads the Employment Law team

Andrew acts for a variety of SME, PLC clients and high net individuals. Andrew has particular knowledge of the Employment Business sector as well as specific experience in acting for hotels, television networks (either directly or on a conflict panel basis), public sector consultancies and technology companies. Andrew is also used to acting on behalf of other law firms in connection with internal redundancy exercises and litigation.

Andrew specialises in defending Tribunal claims, advising on macro-redundancy exercises and protecting sensitive commercial information.

Before joining B&S, Andrew worked for and developed his expertise at a number of large national firms to include Keoghs LLP, (now) Bond Dickinson LLP, Pannone LLP and Capsticks LLP.

Recent transactional work

  • This year Andrew Humphrey led the Employment team on a number of multi-million transactions, ranging from the purchase of a hotel from an administrator to the acquisition of businesses run from a private estate.

Recent litigation work

  • Andrew Humphrey regularly appears at Tribunal on behalf of a particularly prominent Employment Business in connection with the defence of claims based on employee-status.
  • Recent Tribunal litigation has included the successful defence of multiple whistleblowing claims brought on the back of the recent changes to the law in this area.
  • Andrew has also been dealing with prospective High Court litigation on behalf of another Employment Business in connection with allegations that an employee stole a rival’s database and uploaded it to its systems.

Recent drafting work

  • Andrew Humphrey has been instructed by a number of technology companies and a prominent international television network to prepare their bonus schemes and director’s service agreements.
